Discover the timeless elegance of this antique cloisonné bowl, adorned with intricate floral motifs and a symphony of vibrant colors. Expertly crafted using traditional techniques, this exquisite piece is sure to be the crowning jewel of any collection or home decor. Very glad to have this one in my antique collection. It’s a Qing Dynasty desktop display and brush washer. In perfect condition with no flaw or damage.
Chinese use a special technique to make a brass base for this type of brassware then add patterns by using fine brass wires filled with glass-like materials which hardened after heat treatment, then the whole piece is sanded down for smooth surfaces and the brass areas are coated with 24k gold for the fine lines. Wow, that’s a very long process just to say it. Most of the time, the final piece will have issues during each time-consuming process. So it’s rare to have a perfect one like this. With the lotus flower patterns and the Chinese word “longevity” in the middle, along with the craftsmanship and bright yellow base color, it’s believed to be made by the royal court shop for the emperor only. We were lucky to get it from a recent auction event.
The dimensions are 165 mm for the body, 55mm tall, with a 125mm opening and 95mm base.
