A mythical beast or fiery dragon was carved on this antique 1930s nephrite jade slide or pendant. The form is rectangular with a slotted rectangular opening, possibly for a belted garment. A cameo-carved image shows a face with what looks like fire below. The sides and back are polished.
This natural nephrite gemstone is pale green with lighter green and orange-brown inclusions. It measures approx. 2 Inches by 1 1/16 inches x 3/4 inch. The stone varies in tone, color, and translucency. I recently purchased a very attractive and large collection of jade items. This particular jade-carved piece is one of them. This piece is in very good antique condition with minor edge wear.
