I cannot move forward unless give up the past success. Finally I decide to let this piece of my best ever knife creation to go to a person who is lucky and talented to see its value and hopefully can guard it forever.
Inspired a talented blade maker, I acquired the unique hand created hammered hard stainless blade with fish scale patterns with treated texture.
After weeks of brainstorming, I decided to find a red resin and yellow burl scale material to make it a Koi fish-shaped handle. Then after a long period of searching, I finally found the amazing ruby and yellow resin block with clouds in between the semi-transparent red resin and burl.
The handle was shaped and reshaped to adjust to the blade shape for the best flow and comfort to hold. Highly polished to bring its jewelry-like shine in the red resin as well as the rich texture in burl.
With the knife done, I went the extra mile for the sheath. Made the sheath in thick leather and carved a beautiful lotus pond scene with lotus leaves and flowers as well as butterflies on the front and back, painted in natural brown colors to highlight the contrasts.
Almost done, then weeks later, I created a matching lanyard bead in a peanut shape, carved from the same resin burl block for additional elegance.
The knife is meant for my challenge. I did it and it’s for sure could be a collection for my museum if I had one.
