Made this for fun and experimenting with miniature blades and it’s the most fun experience of making, from the choosing of material to the design and crafting itself. Many steps were planned and executed well by hand and the final creation is just amazing.
The miniature tanto style blade with a titanium blade which is acid treated to give the contrast of dark blade spine and light edge. It’s a hidden tang design with its tang fit in a drilled mini brass handle. The end of the handle is the drill lanyard hole for additional decoration you can add. The hand guard is made of an authentic Japanese coin with the words “Japan Country and Year” in patina treatment.
A tight-fit sheath is made of treated wood with blue and orange patterns, and with the natural grain, a fish dragon is carved in the body of the sheath to bring the “Zen” spirit. On the ridge of the sheath are two brass loops for hanging as an accessory as needed.
This is a set tool days and weeks of work into it with the worrying of any tiny mistake that may mess up the whole set. It’s made for a personal challenge but willing to share it with a person who sees its beauty and power. You can use it as a letter opener if you wish.
Dimensions, 2.8-inch long and .25-inch thick blade, 1.75-inch long handle. The sheath is 3.25 x .6 inches. The total length with the sheath on is 5 inches.
